Role

Concept, Art Direction and Design.

Brief

Hands on Furniture is a furniture maker based in Ireland. They produce bespoke furniture made from temperate hardwoods which are designed to combine functionality with timeless elegance. To coincide with a change in the business location and structure the brief was to rebrand and relaunch Hands on Furniture with a fresh contemporary presence.

Strategy

The strategy was to create a new look and feel that reflected the strong design aesthetic, attention to detail and quality of the furniture the business produced.

Solution

I commissioned my talented friends at One Darnley Road to look after the identity. They created a beautiful simple but structured logo with an accompanying stationery suite. The logo was transfered onto the company van too.

Hans is not only a talented furniture maker but also a pretty good photographer. The website solution was to use the photography to really show off the quality of the work and allow it to do the talking. The homepage is a selection of abstract details of furniture pieces which allowed us to show off the craftsmanship straight away. The content is divided by room, with each room showcasing a selection of furniture. The background image of each room is a detail of relevant furniture and each furniture page is linked to an enquiry form. Everything is clearly priced and explained so visitors understand what to ask for and how much it might cost. The website expands and shrinks to fit all browsers allowing the images to always display at their largest size.
