Jo Malone is all about fragrances. Each fragrance is inspired by a moment and made from natural ingredients like flowers, herbs and spices. They are very pure and simple in a sophisticated way. So initially when we started the project these inspiration stories and ingredients seemed like the best place to start. Stop animations of paper flowers, combined with colourful photographic elements, some red silk to represent the dress that inspired one fragrance, a photo of real pomegranate for one of the ingredients that kind of thing. Super talented Sarah who I have the pleasure of working with, made beautiful paper ingredients, pomegranates, figs, gardenias, lilies and hyacinths, just to start us off. We tried them in white and cream paper, different textured papers, photographed them, experimented with the colour hues and perspective and although beautiful they just weren’t right for what we wanted.
